Board of Trustee's Announcement

30th May 2023

We are excited to announce some important changes to our Board of Trustee's at Stevenage Community Trust.

After a 10-year term as Chair, our founding member and lifelong supporter, Rob Stewart has now stepped down from this position. In his time as Chair the trust has seen its membership rise and our fundraising hit record levels. We will greatly miss his endless energy at our regular meetings so we’re thrilled to report that he will continue to play a very active role in the position of President moving forward.

Rob’s departure heralds a new role for Sharon Brown. Sharon has been a Trustee since 2016, taking on the position of Vice-Chair in 2017 and we’re delighted that she has now accepted the position of Chair, stepping into Rob’s shoes.

Steve McQueen, has in turn agreed to take the post of Vice-Chair. Together they will provide us with robust and energetic leadership as we move into a new era.

We are also very fortunate to have the support of Baroness Sharon Taylor OBE, another lifelong trust advocate, who we’re delighted to announce as our Patron. Sharon’s passion and dedication to Stevenage is renowned and it is fitting that she commits to the role after the late Lord Cobbold.

With these exciting changes in place, we're looking forward to the next chapter for the Stevenage Community Trust as together we continue to achieve great things for the people most in need within our local community.
