Stevenage Community Trust Annual Golf Day raises more than £4,500
7th July 2016
More than 60 golfers turned out in force to support the Stevenage Community Trust Golf Day on 7 July, raising more than £4,500 for the charity.
The event has become a popular fixture in the local golfing calendar bringing together local business people and their guests from further afield. Held at Knebworth Golf Club for the 5th year, and organised by local chartered financial planners Richmond House Group, the winners of the tournament were RHG Bulls in a close fought victory. The team from Kingsmill were worthy runners up and Visible Systems won the yellow ball competition.
The event is still waiting for a hole-in-one winner who would have driven away in a Kia Sportage, donated by Ken Brown Motors. The weather again provided a sunny setting for the golfers who also won a variety of prizes for their individual playing skills – Keith Middleton and Paul Legood got the ‘closest to the pin’ prizes, Jason Lowen achieved the longest drive and Chris Barter won the ‘nearest the line’ competition.
The golfers enjoyed a BBQ dinner followed by an auction of lots donated by generous sponsors. John Maynard of RHG proved a masterly auctioneer adding extra funds for the charity.
Thank you to everyone who attended and our sponsors: Richmond House Group, Ken Brown Motors, The Wine Society, Beechwood & Osprey Homes, Weldability Sif, L&L Automotive Mercedes-Benz Stevenage, Garry Parker golf pro at Knebworth Golf Club, Stevenage Leisure Ltd., and Crews Hill and John O’Gaunt Golf Clubs.
